At Eagle Superabrasives, we feel that the stripping and replating of diamond wheels is not an efficient or ecologically sound practice.
First, you double the carbon footprint of the tool with multiple shipments of product to and from your facility to the plating facility and back again, sometimes only to find your cores can not be used again due to unknown damage.
Second, the stripping and replating process is not environmentally sound. Extremely harsh chemicals, acids and alkalis are required to strip off the old abrasive layer and this toxic sludge must be very carefully disposed of.
Our approach is to simply avoid this step and in the vast majority of cases, we can produce brand new, highly accurate parts for less than you can typically replate old worn out steel bodies. You get new precision made tools, you save freight and you help to keep the environment clean.
